Symptoms
Fungi attack the shoots, buds and fruit of pear (Pyrus communis). Dark, circular scabs form on leaves and fruit, distorting the growth of the plant. Brown, blister-like lesions have also been observed on young wood (Sivanesan and Waller, 1974). Lesions may merge to cover large patches, the size of which can be used as an indicator of disease severity (Villalta et al., 2000).
